Vintage ukulele song books and song sheets - on DVD now.
Due to bandwidth problems (on Hostpapa, a shared server), I
cannot offer these as downloadable PDF files any longer. The server was
choking my bandwidth so badly that it made other parts of my site far
too slow. I originally purchased their hosting service as "unlimited"
bandwidth but it appears "unlimited" means "only as much as we want you
to get." Until I get a faster, more reliable and more customer-friendly
host server, I can only offer these as a DVD.
To the best of my knowledge and after several online searches, the
following items have all expired copyright (50+ years since
publication). However, if I missed something, or inadvertently posted a
work with a renewed or extant copyright, please let me know and I will remove it.
My intention is to educate fellow ukulele enthusiasts about this
wonderful music, not breach any
laws.
CAVEAT: Some of the earlier songs and songbooks contain words
and images that are not socially or politically appropriate today. There
pieces that may be considered offensive today - particularly sexist and
racist. I don't write these, nor do I approve them. I merely replicate
them in interest of their historical value.
Coming soon: an index of songs included in the various song
books. I also have scanned and assembled another 20+ songbooks not shown
here at present, that are provided
on the DVD. These include numerous Rudy Vallee song sheets. I will not list them
here until I have found a new server. I am always finding new song
sheets or books to add, but at present I have more than 900 MB of files
in the collection.
If you have any vintage song books or sheets I can add to the
collection, please contact me. I would like to be able to offer them to
other ukulele aficionados.

A handful of songs from a coverless, undated and untitled book I
found in a used book store. None of the other songs had uke
chords.
Another Bonzo Dog song in this 1929 song book - Jollity Farm.

book, hard to scan.

the last year Gem produced song books with ukulele chords. From
1936 on, they offered guitar chords. That suggests a change in
popularity for the ukulele.
A collection of old standards, including Yes, We Have No
Bananas, The Band Played On, Trail of the Lonesome Pine, Bicycle
Built for Two and many more. Warning: several lyrics may
be offensive by today's standards.
